EVOLUTION
OF PRACTICE
The AIA Kentucky/AIA Indiana Convention will
be held October 9-11, 2008 in
Louisville, Kentucky. The theme is "Evolution of Architecture:
From Chisel
to BIM," selected in part to reflect the 100th anniversary
of the AIA in
Kentucky.
Keynote presenters on Friday, October 10 include:
Phil Bernstein,
FAIA of Autodesk, Markku Allison, AIA of the AIA's Integrate
Practice
office, and Sarah Susanka, FAIA, architect and acclaimed author
of the "Not
So Big..." series of books. Other presentations will focus
on historic
preservation tax credits, disaster assistance programs of the
AIA, and how
to become LEED certified.
A trade show will also be part of the program.
The centerpiece of the program on Saturday, October
11 will be a dialogue on
the changing nature of practice, featuring several presenters
and panelists
including Michael Speaks, dean of the University of Kentucky
College of
Design, Chris Sharpels, AIA of SHoP Architects in New York
City, and Bill
Zahner, president of A Zahner Architectural Metal Company.
Both AIA
Kentucky and AIA Indiana will also present their chapter design
awards and
recognize outstanding individual service with special awards
during a
banquet on Friday night, October 10.
