25 Year Award –Tyson Temple – Odle McGuire Shook
Jury Comments:
"This project exhibits exceptional art deco details. It's very iconic. The architect uses form and pared-down modern details to create a memorable monument for Versailles -- a beautiful building lovingly cared for. One juror said that he would screech to stop if he were driving past the Tyson Temple, in Versailles."
Honor Award – Cool Springs Horse Barn – New Construction – Hafer Associates
Jury Comments:
"The barn is comfortably fitted on its hill at the culmination of a beautiful approach road. For such a large building, it is very graceful. The traditional form is simple and well executed and it's beautifully detailed inside and out."
Honor Award - Nature Conservancy – New Construction – Axis Architecture + Interiors
Jury Comments:
"We appreciated the beautiful presentation, including the building's context. There is a clear "front" -- a true façade. The architect used a common palette of materials -- limestone, brick, fiber cement, and wood -- in a very rich succession of layers. The combination of natural light, sustainable materials and a simple, dignified form is quite elegant. We also enjoyed the challenge of designing a nature center within an urban setting."
Merit Award – Business Furniture – Interiors – Axis Architecture + Interiors
Jury Comments:
"These interiors are handled with competence and restraint. The spaces and detailing are skillfully blended and the furniture integrates quite well with the architecture."
Merit Award – Brand Photodesign – New Construction – ONE 10 STUDIO Architects / HAUS | The Architecture Studio
Jury Comments:
"The site plan and parking were expertly handled. The plan makes a few simple but effective moves, such as the entry. This is a quiet building in an open landscape."
Citation Award - University High School – New Construction – Odle McGuire Shook
Jury Comments:
"The gesture of the front space and its relationship to the campus is very strong. The use of wood on a public building is admirable, but we wonder how it will weather."
Citation Award - Regional Public Safety Academy – New Construction – SchenkelShultz Architecture
Jury Comments:
"This is an enthusiastic response for a really tough building type. We enjoyed the transparency of the entrance and the vigorous, varied and interesting interior."
