About Project
Project Description:
Frankey’s is an independently owned clothing company housed in Nora Plaza, just off of 86th Street, one of the busiest thoroughfares in Indianapolis. A store of ever changing needs as seasonal fashions come and go, Frankey’s features a flexible interior and great lighting design to highlight the store’s cutting edge merchandise. The boutique is situated between a Whole Foods market and a Target store.
The design solution involved disconnecting the store from the project site and creating a quiet and flexible interior. Restraining the color palette and lighting allows the clothes to shine. This is done by using three layers of pivoting wall display panels suspended from a track that allows them to slide parallel to the storefront and to be turned and pushed to the side, allowing for an endless array of layering possibilities. The store never looks the same week to week.
Jury Comments:
“An interior space created with a strong clear plan and sectional gestures creating great volumes.”
