About Us

The American Institute Of Architects & AIA Indiana

The American Institute of Architects [AIA] is the voice of the architecture profession dedicated to:

Serve its members; Advance their value; &

Improve the quality of the built environment!

Established in 1892, the Indiana Chapter of the American Institute of Architects [AIA Indiana] is a non-profit professional association representing the interests of and providing services to nearly 700 architects and affiliated design professionals.

The Chapter’s programs and activities have a statewide focus. Services include: monitoring legislative issues and government regulations; professional liability insurance programs; health, life and other employee benefit programs; professional development and educational seminars; design assistance teams to further community planning and development; the annual convention and trade fair; social and recreational events; design awards programs; and support of Ball State and Notre Dame Universities Colleges of Architecture.

In addition to the state organization, four independently-governed AIA chapters, operated by volunteer boards and committees, provide localized programs and services to the membership and the communities they serve.

Jason Shelley, Executive Director, AIA Indiana/AIA Indianapolis

Jason Shelley currently serves as the AIA Indiana and AIA Indianapolis Executive Director. Born and raised in historic downtown Madison, IN, he received his BS degree in Political Science from Indiana University. Prior to working for AIA Indiana and AIA Indianapolis, Jason held various positions including State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business in Indiana, the largest small-business advocacy organization in the state, Life and Health Issues Director at the Insurance Institute of Indiana, and Senior Legislative Assistant at the Indiana House of Representatives. Jason has been a registered lobbyist in Indiana since 1997. In his spare time, Jason enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and attending auto races.
